      St. Patrick’s Day Dispensation

A general dispensation has been granted by Archbishop Hebda from the obligation of abstinence from meat on Friday, March 17, 2023, the Memorial of Saint Patrick.

Those taking advantage of the dispensation, however, are exhorted to undertake a work of charity, an exercise of piety, or an act of comparable penance on some other occasion during the Third Week of Lent. Read Archbishop’s decree.

    The Confessions of St. Augustine
    • Lenten SEries: The Confessions of St. Augustine

This Lent we will be revisiting, perhaps the greatest spiritual masterpiece ever written;  The Confessions of St. Augustine.  The Confessions will be examined in five parts:

      • Part 1:  Capacity and Humility; the Human Soul, an introduction to Augustine’s life, thought and writing.  February 28, 2023
      • Part 2:  Original Sin & the Purification of Memory; a look at the first 15 years of Augustine’s life.  March 7, 2023
      • Part 3:  Creation vs. Creator; Pride, Freedom, Heresy, and loves; a look at Augustine’s very turbulent Adolescence and the seeds of his eventual conversion.  March 14, 2023
      • Part 4:  Resistance to Conversion; Loves and Confusion resist Love; a look at Augustine’s young adult life as he resists and approaches conversion. March 21, 2023
      • Part 5: Conversion, the Great Doctor is healed; a look into Augustine’s remarkable conversion and his service to God’s Church.  March 28, 2023

The series will be held in Sts. Peter and Paul room beginning at 7:00 pm.  Reading the Confessions is not required but encouraged.  The translation we will be using within the series is the one done by Frank Sheed.  Any translation is suitable.  An audiobook version is available through Formed.

    Saintly Salons

“Saintly Salons” are independent, informal, small gatherings that address various topics of interest-some serious and some not so serious.

Each salon is on a first-come, first-served basis, and due to the nature of these small home gatherings, space is limited.

Many thanks to the parishioners who are helping to make these events possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to Liz at liz.toenjes@hfcmn.org.

    Testimonies of Faith
    • Testimonies of Faith

We are a flock of many individuals, each with a unique story and varying experiences. In an effort to continue building community and friendships in Christ. After Mass at Wednesday hospitality, several parishioners will present their personal “Testimonies of Faith.” Each testimony will be about 15-20 minutes. Here’s who is planned thus far:

      • March 29th:

      • Lynn Hann— “From Fear of Living Life to Choosing God’s Will”

      • Mary Lou Pease— “Foolish Atheist Gets Wise”
