St. Cecilia Academy for Strings

St. Cecilia Academy for Strings

- a string orchestra program for young Catholics -

Under the auspices of Holy Family Church, the St. Cecilia Academy for Strings is an educational and performing institution for young Catholic players of stringed instruments. The director of the Academy is Mr. Michal Sobieski, a well known Polish-American virtuoso violinist, and recently retired violinist of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Weekly rehearsals, September through May, prepare for concerts and Masses at Holy Family Church and other locations. Having just completed its first and very successful year, the SCAS performed both in concerts and at Masses at Holy Family, at Chesterton Academy, and at the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel. Works performed included Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi and Haydn.

If you know a young Catholic violinist, violist, cellist or bassist who may be interested in the program, please contact Scott Turkington for more information at 952.999.4887 or scott@hfcmn.org.
