Preparation for the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist
Sacramental Preparation - Second Grade
Second grade preparation for the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist is a joyful and exciting time for Holy Family students and their families. It is required that all children receiving these sacraments are properly prepared. Our programs are designed to help parents properly form and prepare their children for Confession and Holy Communion by helping them understand God's great love for them shown in these two tremendous sacraments. Part of our program includes a pre-First Confession interview in December, and a pre-First Holy Communion interview, banner-making, and a retreat during the week before reception of First Holy Communion.
Parents who choose to provide their own instruction at home instead of at Holy Family Academy or the Religious Education Program on Wednesday evenings, need to inform us of their decision to do the preparation at home. Home-instructed children will need to participate in the interviews, banner-making, practice and reception of the sacrament with the others. Texts and preparation guides will be available to all, either through Holy Family Academy, Religious Education, or made available by early October for those who chose to provide instruction at home.
Note: One must be an active member of the Church of the Holy Family to enroll your child in our sacramental preparation programs.
Child must be Baptized.
Child must be 7 years of age by January 1, 2017.
If your child was not baptized at the Church of the Holy Family, a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate is needed before First Confession.
All Holy Family Academy, public school, and homeschool parents who wish to have their child receive their First Holy Communion will need to attend a mandatory parent meeting Wednesday, September 21, 2015 at 6:30-7:15 PM in Kattar Hall (this coincides with the Confirmation parent meeting which begins at 7:15 PM). Each family will receive information that will help prepare your child for the reception of these sacraments.
Parents of children who are in the second grade this year wishing to receive both sacraments must register their child below. The fee for registration is $30.00 per student. This is above the cost for Wednesday Night Religious Education.
Please check back in September 2017 for our next round of classes.
